GREENWOOD, Ind. – Ithaca College softball junior
Beth Fleming earned CoSIDA Academic All-District First-Team honors, the organization announced on Thursday. This is the second year in a row Fleming has earned recognition for her performance in the classroom.

Fleming earned District 3 honors, which is comprised of schools in New York. The junior pitcher is a Biology major and currently carries a 3.97 grade point average. The Liberty League was well-represented on the list, as St. Lawrence and RPI each had two selections. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic which canceled the spring season, Academic All-District selections were based on career statistics rather than season statistics.

Since joining the South Hill squad, Fleming has been one of the top pitchers for the Bombers. During her brief junior season, Fleming pitched in four of Ithaca's eight games, picking up a win against Susquehanna while tallying 19 strikeouts in 18.2 innings of work.

As a sophomore, Fleming dominated in the circle, earning Liberty League Pitcher of the Year. She also earned NFCA All-Region First Team honors after finished the year with a 1.16 ERA and a 12-3 record. She appeared in 20 games with 19 starts and 12 complete games. She recorded eight shutouts on the season, which is tied for seventh all-time on the single-season lists. Fleming allowed just 18 earned runs on the season, struck out a team-high 116 batters and held opponents to a .194 batting average.

During her first year with the Bombers, she appeared in 22 games with 15 starts. Fleming finished with a 12-6 record and struck out 117 batters.

On the career lists, Fleming currently ranks ninth all-time with 252 strikeouts in 46 appearances. She also sits in seventh all-time for lowest opponent batting average, holding opponents to .204 in 223.1 innings pitched. Additionally, her 10 career shutouts is tied for 10
th on the all-time lists.

 To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average at his or her institution, must be at least a sophomore and must have completed one full calendar year at the nomination institution.

Fleming now moves on to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot which will be announced in early June.
