Wrestling Places 12 on ECWC All-Academic Team for 2019-20

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) officially announced its annual list of All-Academic Team qualifiers for the 2019-20 season on Friday afternoon. The Bombers had another strong class of representatives on the list, as the Ithaca College wrestling program posted 12 honorees in the announcement.

Recipients of this honor must have a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher (through the last eligible grading period of the current academic year), or have maintained a 3.30-or-better over the past two completed semesters. Wrestlers must also have competed in three separate events during the season in order to gain consideration. Freshmen and transfers that have been enrolled full-time for at least one semester are eligible to receive this honor.

Ithaca ranked second behind RIT's 16 honorees in terms of team total. It was the second consecutive year that IC finished with 12 honorees making the cut. The list of Bombers included: Matthew Beyer (Fr.), Travis Jones (Fr.), Adrian Rosario-Beato (Fr.), Matt Griffin (So.), Logan Ninos (So.), Tristen Schiafo (So.), Sam Schneider (R-So.), Adam Wagner (Jr.), Ben Brisman (Sr.), Tito Colom (Sr.), Dalton Elias (Sr.), and Austin Whitney (R-Sr.).

Five of Ithaca's honorees were repeats on the list. Leading the way was Ben Brisman and Austin Whitney who both took home the honors for a fourth consecutive season. Dalton Elias was a three-time selection on the list, while Logan Ninos and Tito Colom earned placement for a second time.

The ECWC All-Academic announcement piggy-backs on an impressive award season for the Bombers already. Ithaca was tabbed as the second-best program in the country in terms of academic achievement measured by cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) by the NWCA last week. Additionally, nine of the aforementioned Bombers were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans. To read that release please: CLICK HERE.
