ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team put on a shooting display Tuesday evening at RIT, as the Bombers made 20 3-pointers to propel IC to a wire-to-wire, 88-50, win over the Tigers inside Clark Gymnasium. Ithaca is now 14-5 on the season and 9-3 in the Liberty League, while RIT falls to 6-13 overall and 3-9 in league play.
The 20 made 3-pointers for the Bombers sets a new school record as IC went 20-for-45 (44.4-percent) from beyond the arc. Ithaca connected on nine threes in the first half and hit 11 more over the final 20 minutes.
Eighth different Bombers contributed to the total, including a 6-for-8 effort from junior
Cooper Macklin, who finished the night with a career-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting overall in 18 minutes of action. Macklin also pulled down four rebounds, to go along with three steals.

Ithaca raced out to a 13-0 lead within the opening 3:18 of the contest as Alderete, Karl and Sinon all hit 3-pointers. Alderete and Karl also tallied made jumpers during the run.
RIT answered with an 8-2 run over the next 4:30 to pull to within a 15-8 difference, but Macklin ended the Tigers' run by knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers to vault Ithaca to a 21-8 advantage midway through the half. After four-straight points from the Tigers brought the difference back to 21-12 with 7:52 remaining, Ithaca scored the next 18 points to establish a 39-12 advantage with just over three minutes left.
IC would close out the first half and took a 41-19 lead into intermission. Ithaca made nine 3-pointers over the opening 20 minutes and the Bombers were led by 13 points from Alderete and eight from Macklin.
Early in the second half, RIT trimmed its deficit to 19 points at 44-25, but a 3-pointer from Karl over a minute later put Ithaca back ahead by 22 points at 47-25 and the Bombers continued to pour it on from there.
By the 12:06 mark, Ithaca went up by 31 points at 60-29 on a layup from Alderete for the first 30-point spread of the evening. Macklin then closed out his career night by hitting three 3-pointers in just over two minutes to push Ithaca's edge out to 73-36 with 7:38 left.
The final basket of the game with 23 seconds to go from junior George Sikoryak accounted for Ithaca's largest lead of the evening at 88-50.
Ithaca was 34-for-73 from the floor (46.6%) and held RIT to just 18-for-62 (29.0%). The Bombers also scored 30 points off turnovers, assisted on 23 baskets and received 43 points from their bench.
IC heads to RPI on Friday, February 7 for a 7:30 p.m. tip and then travels to Union the following afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest.
