RESULTS
ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 6 Ithaca College women's track & field team made the short trip over to Cornell University to compete in the Sunday Invitational and came away with 17 top five finishes at Barton Hall.
Freshman
Tia Jones won the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.78 seconds and prevailed in the 200-meter dash as she crossed the line in 25.43 seconds, which was more than two seconds faster than the runner-up.
Sophomore
Meghan Matheny finished second overall and first among collegiate entries in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.76 meters, while freshman
Martha Kemp-Neilson and junior
Juliann Terry tied for third at 3.31 meters. Terry also competed in the long jump and placed eighth at 4.78 meters.
In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Lauren Rullo clocked in at 9.80 seconds to secure second overall, while freshman Kennedy Heichel was fifth at 10.14 seconds and senior
Brianna Bussiere came in seventh with a time of 10.24 seconds.
Senior
Estelle Yedynak was another runner-up for IC on the day as she cleared 1.65 meters in the high jump. Sophomore
Logan Bruce also competed in the high jump and finished fourth at 1.61 meters.
Junior
Abby Frank was a third place runner in the 200 at 27.04 seconds, while sophomore
Allura Leggard followed in fourth at 27.24 seconds. Frank also placed fourth place in the 60 dash in 8.14 seconds, while Leggard was fifth in a time of 8.18 seconds.
Freshman
Madison Martinez competed in the 400-meter dash and finished third in 1:10.09, while freshman
Sophia Roy was fifth in the 800-meter run at 2:30.25.
Sophomore
Abbey Stowell was a fifth place finisher in the long jump at 4.85 meters and sophomore
Makenzie Baker claimed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.80 meters. Stowell also took sixth in the shot put with a mark of 11.08 meters, while freshman
Moriah Byrd took eighth at 10.93 meters.
Senior
Maria Matkoski posted a time of 11:17.44 in the 3,000-meter run, which was good for fifth place, and sophomore
Zoe Hadley took seventh in 11:18.59.
Juniors
Emily Carey and
Julia Nomberg cleared 3.16 meters in the pole vault to tie for sixth and freshman
Caroline Deck also cleared 3.16 meters but finished eighth due to total attempts.
Freshman
Ayenaliz Velasquez clocked in at 27.69 seconds in the 200 to place sixth, while Bruce came in seventh in 27.74 seconds.
Ithaca will return to Cornell next week for the Marc Deneault Invitational on February 22 for a tune-up before the Liberty League Championships the following weekend at RIT.
