Ithaca vs St. John Fisher, 2001

The Ithaca College softball team split its double header against St. John Fisher College, winning the first game 7-3, but losing the second game by a close score of 5-4.

Ithaca got on the board first with one run in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. In the third inning, the Bombers scored four runs to extend the lead to 5-0. Both teams scored two runs in the sixth inning to make the score 7-2, and St. John Fisher attempted a seventh inning comeback but could only score one run.
 
Sophomore Kim Stephens led the team with two RBI as she went 1-for-1. Senior Laura Remia led the Bombers with three hits as she finished the game going 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Junior Kristin Furdon hit her 11th double of the season as she went 2-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored.
 
Sophomore Abby Hanrahan only allowed five hits and recorded seven strikeouts through seven innings pitched.
 
Game 2 | St. John Fisher 5, Ithaca 4
 
Ithaca jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Cardinals took the lead in the bottom half of the inning with four runs. The Bombers cut the lead to 4-3 with one run scored in the top of the second inning.
 
The contest remained at 4-3 until the bottom of the fifth inning when St. John Fisher tacked on its final run. Ithaca scored an additional run in the top of the sixth and the Bombers had the tying run on second in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to tie the game.
 
Furdon and sophomore Liz Yentema both went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Stephens had one RBI as well in the game, and junior Mairin Dudek went 1-for-3 with one run scored.
 
Sophomore Linda Galib gave up nine hits in her third loss of the season.
 
With the split in games, the Bombers now have an overall record of 26-12.
