WENHAM, Mass. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2019 season, topping Gordon, 5-1, Sunday afternoon.

Although the Fighting Scots put up the first goal of the game, it was the Bombers who controlled the remainder as they recorded 22 shots to Gordon's seven.

Just 11:12, Gordon's Lexi Potter netted a pass from Devin Lacroix to take a brief 1-0 lead over the Bombers.

Ithaca, however responded with the equalizer in the 24
th minute. First-year
Delaney Rutan scored her first career goal on an assist from
Alex Epifani at the 23:35 mark.

Rutan put the Bombers up a goal with her second goal of the game, also on an assist from Epifani, in the 30
th minute.

It wasn't long until Ithaca struck again, adding a third goal at the 32:31 mark. First-year
Kimberly Campbell put in her first career goal as a Bomber, on a pass from Rutan to give IC the 3-1 edge.

After more than 30 minutes of play in the second half, Ithaca scored again in the 79
th minute. Senior
Elise Leavitt scored her first goal of the season on an assist from
Ally Christman to put Ithaca up, 4-1.

Ithaca's offense continued to push, putting through one final goal with just 1:15 left on the clock. Senior
Gabriella Mihale scored her first goal of the season in the 89
th minute to propel IC to the 5-1 victory.

The Bombers forced Gordon goalkeeper Kali Denty to make eight saves on the day with offensive pressure.

Epifani put a shot on frame in the sixth minute which was saved by Denty. Sophomore
Megan O'Reilly then tested Denty again in the 24
th minute, just 33 seconds prior to IC's first goal.

Ithaca stayed in the groove following the first goal, as Mihale sent a shot to goal in the 26
th minute, but Denty came up with the save. Another Mihale shot in the 35 minute was also saved by Denty to end the first half.

Denty came up with two saves, in the 63
rd and 66th minute, on shots from Epifani and
Jordyn Haynes. In the 81
st and 83
rd minute, Denty made her final two saves of the game on shots from Christman and Epifani balls.

Sara Jakobsze finished the game with three saves, as she was tested by an Emily Rodriguez shot in the 6
th minute. She also came up with a save on a Calla Ashley ball in the 36
th minute, and opened up the second half with a save on an Ashton Barkey attempt, just 58 seconds in.

Rutan finished the day with two goals and one assist on three shots. Epifani recorded four shots on the day and racked up two assists.

Ithaca is back in action Wednesday, September 4 as the Bombers travel to Wilkes for a 4 p.m. match up. IC then heads to Mount St. Mary on Saturday, September 7 before hosting Cortland on Wednesday, September 11 at 4 p.m.
