BEVERLY, Mass. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1, overtime setback on opening day against Endicott.

Although the Bombers got on board first, it was ultimately Endicott who came away with the win, dropping IC to 0-1 on the season.

Ithaca scored quickly in the opening minutes of play. Senior
Jordyn Haynes netted a pass from
Alex Epifani just 3:54 in to give IC the 1-0 edge.
Â
Endicott, however, scored the equalizer in the 18
th minute of play to pull things even, 1-1. Larissa Cade netted the goal, assisted by Jaymie Caponigro and Hannah Pesci.

The Bombers continued to push to try to get the go-ahead goal.

In the 28
th minute, the Bombers earned a corner kick, leading to a shot from Epifani. The shot, however, was saved by Endicott's goalkeeper Kayla Wentworth. IC picked up another corner kick 13 seconds later, resulting in a wide shot from Haynes.

Endicott was also able to string more offense together, tallying two shots in the 33
rd and 34
th minutes, but both sailed wide.

The Bombers put one more shot on goal with just under three minutes left to play in the first half. Senior
Elise Leavitt sent the ball to goal, but Wentworth was there once again to make the play.

Ithaca put its first shot of the second half on goal in the 61
st minute, but
Megan O'Reilly's attempt was stopped by Wentworth. IC rebounded and
Gabriella Mihale sent a shot in, but it sailed wide of the goal.

IC had an offensive push in the latter portion of the second half, starting with a shot from Epifani in the 66
th minute, which was wide. Epifani followed that up with another shot in the 69
th minute, but it was stopped by Wentworth.

Endicott won the golden-goal battle in overtime. Just 5:14 into the 10 minute period, Lindsey Papa netted a pass from Larissa Cade to give the Gulls the edge.

Ithaca is back in action and will be looking for its first win on Sunday when the Bombers travel to Gordon College for a 1 p.m. kick off.
