The highlight of the day for Ithaca came during the doubles session, as the team scored their lone victory of the day at third-doubles. Sophomore
Sara Steinberg combined with newcomer
Shannon Wolfe for an impressive 8-5 win over TCNJ's third duo of Sarah Phung and Navya Yemula. The win capped the session with IC trailing by just a point heading to singles play.
The first-doubles matchup between the Lions' Liya Davidov and Katrine Luddy against Ithaca's senior duo of
Caroline Dunn and
Kathryn Shaffer was also competitive. Davidov and Luddy earned a couple late breaks to pull away down the stretch for an 8-4 win. Junior
Brianna Ruback and first-year
Alexandra Dyszewski fell in the second-doubles match by an 8-1 score.
Looking to manage some reps with a Liberty League match against Bard looming tomorrow afternoon, Ithaca opted to shake some things up in the singles session. First-years
Rel Klein,
Chloe Levy and
Shannon Wolfe got valuable experience in the fourth-singles, fifth-singles and sixth-singles matches, respectively. Unfortunately, the Bombers were unable to pull out a victory during singles action as TCNJ swept all six matchups.
Ithaca returns to the courts tomorrow morning when it returns to Liberty League play at Bard at 10:00 a.m.
