A depleted lineup continued to plague the Bombers in the final match of the week, as IC was forced to concede a team point at sixth singles and a third-doubles matchup. Although the Bombers would score a win from junior
Brianna Ruback and senior
Caroline Dunn in their first-doubles matchup against Cassidy Calimer and Vitoria Nery, it would not be enough to pull out the one-team point in the doubles session. Bloomsburg scored a 6-1 victory in second-doubles with Giovanna Bonito and Taylor Capoferri taking the decision against Ithaca's senior
Jane Alkhazov and sophomore
Sara Steinberg.
The highlight of the singles session came from Ruback, who scored Ithaca's lone team point during the day. She got off to a dominant start in her first-singles matchup against Bloomsburg's Capoferri, taking the opening set in a 6-0 sweep. The Huskies top netter answered back in the second set, as Ruback hit a rough spell in losing the middle set 4-6. Ruback regrouped for the third-set super-breaker, taking it by a 10-2 margin.
Alkhazov also battled in a close match at fourth-singles. She was neck-and-neck with the Huskies' Isabella Sarquis throughout the opening set, taking things to a tiebreaker, before ultimately falling in extra points 8-6. The IC senior ran out of steam in the second set unfortunately, falling 6-3.
Ithaca will get back in action on the return North on Friday, March 29, when it faces SUNY New Paltz in a home match at 3:30 p.m.
