SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 road Liberty League matchup to Union on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet Chargers swept doubles play as the lone team point for Ithaca was scored by
Madeleine Sutro at No. 3 singles.
The doubles point was earned with 6-2 and 6-3 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1 singles,
Alys Pop fell to Skylar Semon (6-2, 6-0).
Sabrina Cheung would take three sets from Chara Meidani but was defeated.
Ava Casell-Lapetina would go back and forth with Sydney Alphabet at No. 3 but would succumb by set scores of 7-5, 7-6 (9-7).
Madeleine Sutro came away on the winning end of a three-setter. Sutro came back after dropping the first set 6-2, to defeat Claire Langille in the next two by scores of 6-3 and 1-0 (10-6).
Ekaterina Kelly and
Jade Vadeboncoeur rounded out the singles lineup, each fighting through challenging matchups at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
With the loss the Bombers fell to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in conference season. Ithaca will wrap up Liberty League play on Sunday with a 2 p.m. matchup at Skidmore.
