GENEVA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team fell to No. 4 William Smith, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon. The Bombers are now 6-3-1 on the season and 1-1 in Liberty League play.

The Herons did not score the game-winning goal until there was 5:54 remaining in the second half. Elizabeth Moore scored off a Genevieve Carpenter corner kick to give William Smith the 1-0 edge, which held to the end.

William Smith wasted no time in testing Ithaca goalkeeper
Sara Jakobsze, as Mariah Deschino put a ball on-frame just 38 seconds into play, which was saved.

Jakobsze came up with another save in the 29
th minute on an Emily Sauvayre attempt. The Bombers then went on the offensive, putting a shot on goal in the 31
st minute. Sophomore
Megan O'Reilly's ball was saved by goalkeeper Amanda Kesler.

Senior
Ally Christman followed that up with a shot in the 28th minute, which was also stopped by Kesley.

The Herons brought things the other way and once again tested Jakobsze in the 40
th minute. The senior made the play on Merilyn Hinrichs shot, however. Jakobsze then ended the first half with another save, this time on an Amanda Adams ball with just 59 seconds remaining.

William Smith came out of the break with another offensive push. Carpenter sent one in to goal just 3:30 in, but Jakobsze stayed strong in the net for IC.

In the 58
th minute, Hinrichs had another on-frame attempt for the Herons, which was stopped by Jakobsze to keep the score, 0-0.

The Bombers final attempt prior to William Smith's goal was in the 66
th minute, as a Mckensie Galusha shot was saved by Kesler in the net.

Prior to scoring, William Smith had another shot on-frame in the 80
th minute, but Jakobsze made the play on Hinrichs' ball. The Herons also earned back-to-back corner kicks, before notching the corner kick that resulted in the game-winner.

The Bombers were unable to get any shots off following William Smith's goal.

In the net, Jakobsze tied her season-high with eight saves on the day.

Ithaca is back in action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. match at St. Lawrence. It is the Bombers final road game before a five-game homestand, starting with Clarkson on Saturday, October 12 at 3 p.m.
