ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team defeated Wilkes, 1-0, in its home opener on Wednesday afternoon at Carp Wood Field.

The win improves the IC's record to 3-0 on the season while Wilkes falls to 0-1.

The Bombers were once against lifted by senior
Shoshana Bedrosian, who scored the lone goal of the game. Bedrosian now has five goals on the year and has scored all of the Bombers' goals this seasons.

Bedrosian's go-ahead goal came in the 38
th minute of the game. Junior
Ally Christman then sent a short pass into the box, just out of the reach of Wilkes' goalkeeper Courtney Stanley, which Bedrosian was able to knock in to take a 1-0 lead. Christman now has two assists in three games.

The Bombers attacked early on, testing Stanley for the first time in the 10
th minute on a Bedrosian shot. Stanley saved the ball and sent it the other way, but IC would be back in its offensive end quickly.

Ithaca had one of its best chances of the game in the 13
th minute. After a scuffle in front of the goal, which pulled Stanley out, senior
Sarah Pirnie ripped a shot from the left side, but it was saved on the line by a Colonel's defender.

The play resulted in a corner kick that led to an
Alex Epifani shot, but Stanley was there make the save.

The Bombers had one more scoring opportunity prior to Bedrosian's ball finding the back of the net. Pirnie sent a shot to goal in the 20
th minute, but it was blocked by a defender.

Wilkes' lone shot attempt of the first half was in the 10
th minute, when a Haley Evans ball sailed high over goalkeeper
Sara Jakobsze's head.

Out of the break, the Bombers registered a corner in the 54
th minute, leading to a shot from
Jenny Lidwin, which was saved by Stanley.

Jakobsze was tested for the first time in the 60
th minute of play. Delfina Bracchi sent a header her way, but she came up with the save to preserve IC's lead.

Stanley once against proved to be strong in goal for Wilks, making a save on a Bedrosian shot, also in the 60
th minute.

The Colonels' made one final offensive push with just under seven minutes left in the game.

In the 84
th minute, a Karyna Vargas shot went over the goal.
Â
Less than two minutes later, Wilkes forced a corner kick which resulted in another test for Jakobzse. Nicolette Towlen created a shot off the corner, but Jakobsze an athletic save to keep the Colonels off the board. That would be the last promising opportunity for the Wilkes as the last shot attempt was too high.

Statistically, Bedrosian recorded three shots, all on frame, along with her goal. Pirnie and Epifani both register two shots apiece.

Jakobsze finished the day with two saves in the net, giving her a 3-0 record on the season. For Wilkes, Stanley made four saves on the day.

The Bombers are back in action on Saturday against Elmira for a 12 p.m. contest.
