Box Score 2 ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team swept Alfred on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Kostrinsky Field.

The Bombers held off a sixth-inning surge by the Saxons to come out with a 6-4 win in game one before breezing past Alfred, 10-0, in the second half of the twin bill.

With the wins, Ithaca improves to 23-8 on the season while Alfred falls to 19-15.

The Bombers wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning, starting with
Allie Colleran reaching base on a left field error and advancing to second.
Â
Gabby Laccona followed that up with and single to short before Colleran scored on a Brown liner to second, giving the Bombers a 1-0 lead.

Laccona stole second to put herself in scoring position before scoring on a
Hannah Anderson single up the middle. The Bombers went on to load the bases but all three runners were left on base to end the inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, Colleran drilled her fifth homerun of the season to left center, boosting IC's lead to 3-0.

The Bombers had their biggest inning in the bottom of the fifth, when they scored three more runs.
Â
Alex Wright led off with a single to left field and scored on an Anderson double.
Abby Shields then singled to right field and advanced to third on a
Hannah Peters double to right center.
Â
Both Shields and Peters scored for fifth and sixth runs of the game when
Ellie Murray ripped a double down the right field line.
Â
With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Alfred began to rally and went on to score four runs and cut deep into IC's lead.
Â
Lea Georgatos started the rally for the Saxons after reaching base on an error before Haley Powers drew a walk. Georgatos went on to score when Becca Alexander drilled a double to right field.

Elena Ceja followed that up with a single up the middle, allowing both Powers and Alexander to score and cut the Bombers' lead in half, to just three runs.

The fourth and final run for the Saxons was scored by Ceja, who was driven in by a Shannon Schaefer double down the left field line.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Bombers forced three quick outs to hold the Saxons off and win the first of two games.

Wright finished 2-for-3 with a run scored while Laccona went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Anderson also finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Bombers scored all 10 of their runs in the third inning.
Â
Nikkey Skuraton led off the inning with a single to right field before heading to third on a Colleran single to right.
Â
Skuraton went on to score on a Laccona single to left field before Brown ripped a double to left center, scoring both Colleran and Laccona. Wright followed that up with a walk and advanced to second on an Anderson single to right, which also allowed Brown to score.

Following a pitching change, Shields sent a double up the middle, driving in Wright and sending Anderson to third base.
Ellie Murray reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases for the Bombers.

Skuraton stepped up to send a triple to right center, scoring Anderson, Shields and Murray to push IC's edge to 8-0.

Colleran then drew a walk before Skuraton scored on a sacrifice fly to right field. Brown advanced Colleran to second with a single and
Alex Wright drove in the final run of the game with an RBI single to center field.

Although the Saxons put several runners on base, they were unable to create a rally like the first game, falling in five innings.

Colleran went 2-for-2 in game two with two runs scored while Brown finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Shields also went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run and Anderson finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run.

Freshman
Beth Fleming picked up her ninth win of the season to improve to 9-5 after striking out seven batters and allowing no runs.

The Bombers are back in action on Saturday afternoon in one final Liberty League regular-season doubleheader against RIT. The game will also serve as senior day, which will take place following the games. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
