Strength & Conditioning Program Mission

Our Mission:  Ithaca College Strength and Conditioning is committed to student-athlete growth and development through athletic education – preparing them to be visionary leaders on and off the field while competing at the highest level

  • Providing a student-led learning environment, our strength and conditioning program is based on current scientific research and practical application with primary emphasis on athletic performance enhancement and reduction of injuries.

  • As academic preceptor to graduate and undergraduate students, the Strength and Conditioning Head Coach oversees the implementation of a comprehensive strength and conditioning program supporting 27 teams and 850 student-athletes.

  • Ithaca College Strength and Conditioning implements individualized team programs; physical preparation modules include proper warm up (movement prep) and corrective exercise, agility and speed development (including linear and lateral task specific preparation), anaerobic and aerobic energy system development, core, strength and power development, and restoration strategies.

Our Vision:  Ithaca College Strength and Conditioning strives to become the standard of excellence for a student-centered learning environment while competing at the highest level.

Program Objectives:  Create a strength and conditioning program that meets and values the following:

  • Excellence  A quality that surpasses ordinary standards.  Professional methods (i.e. Safe, evidence based), character (i.e. leadership, strong work ethic, emotional intelligence, respect) and standards.

  • Teamwork  Collaboration including delivery of day-to-day S C operations in support of student-athletes and sport coaches.  Cohesive and working together in real time.  Openness and honesty about what is and is not working.  Supportive, positive team environment.

  • Communication  Positive coaching (i.e. focus on what to do, rather than what not to do).  Work collaboratively with S C coaches, sport coaches, faculty and staff, including athletic training services.

  • Student Centered Learning Environment  Process oriented.  Teaching and mentorship.  Competent instruction and supervision.  Professional development.
