ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team fell short against RIT, 77-66, in Liberty League action on Tuesday evening.

Despite erasing a 14-point deficit in the second half to eventually force the game into overtime, the final period was not an offensively productive one for the Bombers, as they scored just three points.

In the first quarter, things were fairly even with the teams exchanging baskets until RIT went on a 12-2 run to end the quarter with a six-point lead.

RIT's Sabrina Wolfe found the basket on a pass from Jessica Shields to open the second quarter before Jessica Glaz drained a three-pointer, giving the Tigers their first double-digit lead of the game.

Junior
Meghan Pickell netted a three just 10 seconds to cut the deficit to eight points, but the Tigers went on to score nine straight points to take a 32-15 lead with 5:52 in the quarter.

An
Allie Tunick three-pointer with 1:33 left in the first half brought the Bombers within seven points, but the Tigers brought it back up to double-digits to close things out.

Although RIT came out to build up as much as a 14-point lead in the third quarter, IC slowly started to chip away at the deficit.

First-year
Grace Cannon brought a much-needed spark off the bench at the end of the third quarter which lasted into the fourth quarter.

Cannon hit two free throws with just over one minute left to play in the third before netting a three-pointer with 31 seconds left.

She opened up the fourth quarter with a three for the Bombers and put IC ahead at the 8:20 mark with another shot from behind the arc. Cannon finished the day with 14 points.

It was a back-and-forth battle for the rest of the regulation.
Cassidy O'Malley gave the Bombers the lead again with 1:24 left, but Tara Lynch tied things up on two free throws which sent the game into overtime.

Ithaca had a one-point lead following an O'Malley free throw to start the extra quarter, but the Tigers scored back-to-back buckets to take the lead.

Julie Yacovoni easily cut through her defenders for a layup at the 3:44 mark, but the Tigers went on to outscore IC 10-0 in the final minutes of the game.

With the loss, the Bombers drop to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the Liberty League. RIT improves to 10-1 overall, with a 5-0 conference mark.

Offensively RIT went 29-for-65 for a 44.6 percent clip while the Bombers shot 21-for-71 for a 29.6 percent mark. IC, however, outrebounded the Tigers 50-39.

Three different IC players reached double digits, led by O'Malley who finished with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Â
Yacovoni recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 17 rebounds. She also had four blocks, three steals and three assists on the day.

RIT's Cori Okade led all scorers with 28 points.

The Bombers are back in action this weekend when they travel to St. Lawrence on Friday evening and Clarkson on Saturday afternoon.
