Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls at St. Lawrence, 2-1

CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision in Liberty League action on Saturday to host St. Lawrence University at Sandy MacCallaster Field. With the loss, Ithaca falls to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in league play, while St. Lawrence improves to 7-3 and 2-1.

Ithaca ripped the first shot of the game from first year Alex Epifani just 10 minutes in, but the attempted sailed high of target.

St. Lawrence quickly went on the attack and fired off three shots, two of which were saved by senior Stacy DiGorgio, in a two-minute span. At the 17:10 mark of the opening half, the Saints drew the game's first corner kick. A minute later, St. Lawrence put home a rebound off the post to take a 1-0 lead.

Over the final 23 minutes of the first half, St. Lawrence outshot the Bombers, 15-2, but the Saints were unable to add to their 1-0 lead heading to the break, as DiGorgio made four of her six saves in the half.

Out of intermission, the Bombers threatened early with a corner kick and a shot, which was blocked, in the first four minutes.

St. Lawrence countered less than a minute later and sent home its second goal of the contest at the 50:52 mark. The goal came on a volley in the box from 12-yards out.

First year Emma Fuhrling subbed in for DiGorgio in the 55th minute and made two saves in a span of 1:48. DiGorgio tallied eight saves on the afternoon.

The Bombers got on the board in the 89th minute as senior Kristyn Alonzo finished off a free kick and header. Assists went to senior Kendall Cirella and junior Reid Garner.

St. Lawrence concluded the match with a 28-9 disparity in shots and a slim, 4-2, advantage in corners.

Ithaca looks to get back on track against William Smith at 4 p.m. on October 4 in Geneva, N.Y.
