Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanked by No. 5 William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team fell to No. 5 William Smith on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 3-1.
 
The loss drops the Bombers to 3-7 overall with a mark of 0-3 in the Liberty League while William Smith improves to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in conference action.
 
The Herons were led by Evie Manning who scored two of the three goals for her seventh and eighth goals of the season.
 
Just 10:13 into the game, Manning took a pass from Megan Richard, beat her defender and sent a shot into the far left side of the goal to put William Smith up 1-0, which would last into the half.
 
In the 64th minute, Manning scored again for the Herons, sending a shot from the top right corner into the net, giving William Smith the two-goal edge.
 
The final goal of the game was in the 68th minute, this time from Elizabeth Moore to put the Herons up 3-0.
 
The Bombers registered just two shots in the game, both coming in the second half.
 
In the 71st minute, Alex Epifani sent a shot in but it sailed wide of the goal. Another Epifani shot in the 89th minute was blocked by a William Smith defender.
 
The Heron's registered 34 shots compared to Ithaca's two. William Smith also tallied six corners while the Bombers did not have any.
 
Freshman keeper Emma Fruhling made her first career start and recorded 11 saves for the Bombers in the net.
 
Ithaca is back in action on Saturday when the team travels to Bard. The game is slated to start at 2 p.m. After that, the Bombers return home for back-to-back home games on October 13-14 against Skidmore and Union, respectively.
