Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Tops St. John Fisher, 4-0

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team defeated St. John Fisher on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bombers topped their former Empire 8 foe 4-0 to take the win at home. Ithaca is now 3-5 overall as they head into more Liberty League conference games this weekend.

Four different Ithaca players scored against the Cardinals.

The first goal came from McKensie Galusha in the 10th minute of play. The Bombers earned a corner kick which led to Galusha's ball finding the back of the net to give Ithaca the 1-0 lead.

In the 36th minute, Kelsey Espenhorst controlled a rebounded Alex Epifani shot to put it away and take a 2-0 lead which would last until the halftime break.

In the second half, Ithaca added two goals in close succession.

In the 53rd minute, Ally Christman scored on an Epifani pass before Epifani scored a goal of her own. Epifani scored in the 56th minute on a Devon Morris assist.

The four goals would be more than enough to hold off St. John Fisher for the win.

The Bombers had several promising chances but Cardinals' goalie Melissa McGowan was there to make the saves. She ended the day with four saves.

In the 41st minute, Gabrielle Mihale sent a shot at McGowan which was saved. In the 55th minute, right before the Bombers scored their fourth goal, McGowan saved a Kendall Cirella shot. A Sam Robinson shot in the 59th minute was also saved.

Ithaca registered 13 total shots compared to the Cardinals four on the day. The Bombers also registered eight corners while St. John Fisher did not record any.

The Bombers now have three road, conference games to get ready for. On Saturday, September 30, Ithaca heads to Canton for a game at St. Lawrence before facing William Smith on Wednesday, October 4. The final game of the three-game road stretch is at Bard on Saturday, October 7.

Ithaca is back home once again on Friday, October 13 against Skidmore.
