Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to Farmingdale State on the Road

DALLAS, Pa. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team fell to Farmingdale State, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Bombers to 1-3 on the season while Farmingdale improves to 2-2-1.

It was the Rams who struck first, scoring their first goal in the 28th minute of play on a Taylor Howard shot.

The Bombers made several attempts to score the equalizer in the first half, but none were successful in finding the back of the net.

Ithaca registered a total of five shots in the first half. A Reid Garner shot in the 22nd minute was saved by Farmingdale goalie Daniella Ford before an Alex Epifani shot hit the crossbar in the 23rd minute.

The Bombers got off three more shots following the Rams' goal – Maddie Amidon in the 28th minute, Garner in the 37th minute and Epifani in the 39th minute – but Ford was there to make all three saves.

After the break, Garner fired another shot toward Ford, but the save was made in the 47th minute.

The Rams had two chances from Cristina Ferrara and Cailyn Demarinis, respectively, before they were successful in adding another point to the board.

In the 56th minute, Edasia Martinez sent a shot from 12 yards out to put Farmingdale State up 2-0.

After shots from Epifani and Kate Kohler were saved and went wide, respectively, the Bombers earned a corner kick which led to a goal in the 88th minute of play.

McKensie Galusha sent the ball towards the goal where Shannon McMillan finished for her first goal of the season.

Time expired less than three minutes after the goal, however, so the Bombers could not relay the momentum in a game-tying goal.

Farmingdale State record 13 shots compared to Ithaca's nine. The Bombers registered one more corner kick (4) than the Rams (3).

Ithaca goalie Stacey DiGiorgio finished the day with four saves while Ford had six for Farmingdale.

The Bombers are back in action on Wednesday afternoon against SUNY Cortland. The contest, which is Ithaca's first home game of the season, is set to start at 4 p.m. at Carp Wood Field.
