ERIE, Pa. – The Ithaca women's soccer team fell to Penn State Behrend by a score of 2-1 in the season opener on Friday evening.

The Bombers got on the board first with a
Sarah Pirnie goal in the 13
th minute of the opening half on a cross from
Sam Robinson. The goal is Pirnie's third of her career.

The Lions tied the game at one less than six minutes later, in the 19
th minute, on a header from Jordan Oberlander.

Sophomore
Jordyn Haynes got a shot off at the very end of the first half but Behrend's goalie Ania Gorski was there to make the save.

The Lions outshot the Bombers 5-1 in the last 20 minutes of the first half.

Just about seven minutes into the second half, the Lions put another goal on the board. Jordan Trama got a pass from Olivia Belack and sent it into the upper corner to gain the advantage for Behrend.

In the final 20 minutes of play, the Bombers picked up the pace and had several chances, but could not find the back of the net to score the equalizer.

McKensie Galusha fired off a shot but Gorski was there to make the save. A shot from
Shoshana Bedrosian hit the post and Gorski made two saves on shots from
Maddie Amidon.
Mackenzie Hinchliffe and Galusha had the final two shots of the game for Ithaca, but they were saved and went wide, respectively.
Statistically, things were nearly even between the two teams as Ithaca recorded 12 shots in total with eight shots on goal, while Behrend totaled 13 shots on goal, also with eight shots on goal.

Junior goalie
Stacey DiGiorgio record six saves on the day while Gorski tallied seven.

The Bombers are back in action tomorrow evening against Fredonia at 5 p.m.
