ERIE, Pa. – The Ithaca women's soccer team topped Fredonia on Saturday evening in its second game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament to secure its first win of the season.

After playing a scoreless first half, the lone goal of the game came with just 1:34 left to play in regulation, pushing the Bombers past Fredonia to secure the 1-0 victory.

First-year
Christina DiCesare sent a shot up the field to junior
Shoshana Bedrosian who sent a cross past Fredonia goalie Marissa Quimby. Sophomore
Ally Christman got a foot on the ball but it was ultimately tapped in by first-year
Maddie Amidon for her first career goal as a Bomber.

Ithaca had several chances throughout the game, but the ball could not find the back of the net until the final minutes.

In the first five minutes of action, senior
Kristyn Alonzo each recorded a shot, but Quimby was there both times to make the save. In the 79
th minute of play, a
Devon Morris shot was saved by Quimby as well. The Fredonia goalkeeper finished with three saves on the day for Fredonia.

Fredonia was not without its share of chances throughout the game. The Blue Devils tested Ithaca goalie
Stacey DiGiorgio three times in the first half but she made the save each time to finish with a total of three saves.

The Bombers outshot Fredonia 9-5 while also earning seven corners compared to the Blue Devils one corner.

"We were happy with our work rate and our execution," said Head Coach
Mindy Quigg. "We were happy to come out with a win. I think we deserved to win that game."

Ithaca is on the road again next weekend at Misericordia in Dallas, Pa. The Bombers will play the host team on Saturday at 1 p.m. before facing Farmingdale State on Sunday, also at 1 p.m.
