Women's Basketball Dominates Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team rolled past Bard on Saturday afternoon, 82-33.

With the win, the Bombers improve to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Liberty League.
 
Ithaca had well-balanced scoring, led by Cassidy O'Malley's 14 points. Sara Jackson finished with nine points while Erin Woop, Julie Yacovoni and Mia Herlan each had eight.
 
The Bombers opened up the game with a 14-0 run in the first 3:30 of the quarter before Bard's Caleigh DeCaprio netted a three to put the Raptors on the board.
 
An Erin Kennedy three and a jumper from DeCaprio pulled Bard within three, but the Bombers continued to build their lead.
 
First-year Abbi Field hit two free throws after being fouled on the rebound, which led to another IC run. Jackson hit back-to-back shots and Grace Cannon scored on a layup to give the Bombers a 28-11 lead.
 
An Allison Spaschak layup gave the Bombers' their biggest lead up to that point, 30-12, to end the first quarter.
 
Woop started things off in the second quarter with a layup before Meghan Pickell scored, was fouled and sank the ensuing free throw.
 
IC extended its lead to 31 points at the 4:24 mark on a Jackson three-pointer and the Bombers held a 49-19 lead heading into half time.
 
Pickell put un a layup to begin the third quarter, followed by a pair of free throws from O'Malley and back-to-back jumpers from Yacovoni.
 
The two teams traded baskets over the next few minutes, but Bard was unable to gain any ground.
 
Baskets from Spaschak and Field rounded out the quarter and pushed the Bombers' advantage to 67-27.
 
Herlan score six of her eight points in the fourth quarter starting with a layup in the first minute.
 
First-year Mariyah Byrd also had a solid fourth quarter, scoring five of her seven points. She hit her first jumper of the quarter at the 5:23 mark before converting on a three-point play less than two minutes later, giving IC a 77-30 lead.
 
The Bombers continued to cruise, which led to the final 82-33 score
 
Ithaca is back in action on Saturday, December 9 when the team travels to New Jersey for a clash with former Empire 8 rival Stevens, slated to begin at 1 p.m. Following that, the Bombers have one final game of the 2017 slate, against University of Rochester, at home on Tuesday, December 9 at 7 p.m.
