Men's Soccer Drops Road Contest to RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team dropped a road contest to RIT on Wednesday afternoon, 4-1.
 
The loss gives the Bombers an overall record of 7-7-2 with a 2-5-1 mark in the Liberty League while RIT is now 6-5-3 on the season with a 4-2-2 conference record.
 
The Bombers got on the board first in the 19th minute of play. Nate Schoen scored on a loose ball in front of the RIT net to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead.
 
RIT would go on to score three goals in the first half, however, to take the lead.
 
The Tigers pulled even at the 25:00 mark when Nick Simone sent a loose ball into the top left corner.
 
The second RIT goal was just over five minutes later, in the 31st minute, when Cam Shipley scored from the six-yard box of a corner kick.
 
RIT scored its third goal of the half in the 42nd minute. Connor Gill sent a shot towards goal which was saved by Dan Hinckley. Simone controlled the rebound and fired off another shot into an open net, to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
 
The last goal of the game was not scored until there was just over two and a half minutes remaining. RIT's Tristan Scott scored on a penalty kick to make the score 4-1 which would hold until the end.
 
The Bombers registered just five shots compared to RIT's 24 throughout the game.
 
A Schoen shot in the 13th minute was blocked before a header from Nate Mansfield sailed wide less than 30 seconds later.
 
In the second half, a Justinian Michaels header was saved by Peter Cinibulk in the 84th minute. A header from Diego Sanchez went wide in the 84th minute.
 
In the net, Dan Hinckley started the game and made four saves. Freshman Lee Folger, in his first action as a Bomber, came on in relief to close out the first half and play the entirety of the second, also making four saves.
 
Ithaca has one final regular-season game on Saturday, when the team travels to Poughkeepsie to face Vassar at 2 p.m.
