ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team picked up its second win in Empire 8 conference play on Saturday as the Bombers downed Nazareth College, 1-0, at Carp Wood Field. With the win, Ithaca improved to 4-4-0 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play at 2-0. The Golden Flyers fell to 3-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 against Empire 8 opponents.
Freshman
Kevin Turi scored what turned out to be the game's only goal in just the fourth minute of play when he secured a loose ball in front of the Nazareth net before delivering a strike for his first-career goal and a 1-0 Ithaca lead.
Nazareth struggled all game to find any rhythm on the offensive end of the field as the Bombers' defense allowed a season-low six shots over 90 minutes of play.
Zach Jacobsen moved to 4-3 in goal for Ithaca after making two stops in net.Â
The Bombers took 15 shots overall led by
Nathan Schoen who took five shots in all.Â
Sam Boylan had three strikes while
Scott Halpern and Turi were each credited with two shots for Ithaca.
The Bombers begin a three-game road trip at 1 p.m. on Saturday as they travel to Utica to face the Pioneers in an Empire 8 battle.
