The Bombers enter Wednesday night coming off an impressive showing at the 2016 Franklin & Marshall Scramble. To start off the tournament, the Bombers secured a victory over 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon in four sets, its second victory over a nationally-ranked opponent this season. The squad went on to take its second match against Stevenson 3-1, which included a 25-14 fourth set win to cap off the first day of competition. The Bombers kept their momentum going into the second day of play when they defeated Franklin & Marshall 3-2 in a back-and-fourth five-set match. To conclude the tournament, Ithaca ran into some trouble, dropping its contest against 13th-ranked Eastern 3-0.Â

Rookie Results
Recently named Empire 8 Rookie of the Week,
Caitlyn Floyd has made an immediate impact since arriving on South Hill. The freshman has contributed a team-high 245 assists on the season. Most recently, Floyd tallied 86 assists over the four matches at the scramble this past weekend. She also posted a career-high 30 assists against the nationally-ranked Tartans. In the Bombers' five-set victory over Franklin & Marshall, Floyd posted five kills, a career-high, in addition to her 22 assists.

Cerruti's Early Success
Junior outside hitter,
Amanda Cerruti, currently leads the squad in blocks with a dominant 56 this season, while she is also tied with freshman outside hitter
Taylor McCarthy with 82 kills. Not only does the junior lead her team, but her 56 total blocks also tops the Empire 8 statistical rankings, out-pacing the next closest player by an impressive 17. At the Franklin & Marshall Scramble, the West Islip, N.Y., native was credited with a season-high 10 blocks on two solos and eight assists in the victory over Stevenson. She went on to add another eight through the course of the weekend.

Scouting Elmira College
The Soaring Eagles are off to a 2-1 start to the 2016 season, playing the least amount of matches among all teams in the Empire 8 through the opening three weeks of the season. Elmira's latest contest was a five-set thriller against the Pennsylvania College of Technology, which the Soaring Eagles won 3-2. Sophomore, Natalie Schieder, paces the squad with 60 of Elmira's 127 total kills on the season. Schieder also tops the Soaring Eagles leaderboard in digs, tallying 48.

Looking Ahead
The Bombers hit the road for their first of three Empire 8 tri-matches this coming weekend when they travel to Hoboken, N.J. The two matches on Saturday, September 24, are likely to be a conference tournament preview, as Ithaca is set to face 8-3 Nazareth in the opening match at 1:30 p.m., before concluding the day against 13-1 Stevens Institute of Technology at 4:00 p.m.
