No. 18 Bombers and Rochester Settle for Draw

ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally-ranked Ithaca College women's soccer team settled for a tie on Sunday as the No. 18 Bombers and the University of Rochester Yellowjackets played to a 2-2 draw in the consolation match of the Upstate Collegiate Cup at Carp Wood Field.  With the draw, Ithaca moved to 4-1-1 on the season while Rochester is now 0-3-3.

Rochester got things going in the 23rd minute after the Yellowjacket's front line dribbled in and out pressure before finding some space and burying a strike to take a 1-0 lead.

The lead wouldn't last for long, however, as the Bombers answered in the 43rd minute when Megan Nash threaded the needle to Shoshana Bedrosian who raced past Rochester's defensive line before blasting a shot into the corner of the cage to tie things up at one goal apiece heading into the break.

Coming out of intermission, Jocelyn Ravesi would stake the Bombers to a one-goal lead in the 56th minute after intercepting a pass near midfield before taking the ball up the side and burying it into the far corner to make it 2-1, Ithaca.

After holding the advantage for nearly 11 minutes, Rochester would net the equalizer in the 67th minute after heading home a corner kick to knot things up at 2-2.

Both teams battled back-and-forth as the second half came to a close, but the score would remain tied at the close of regulation.  In the first overtime period, Rochester nearly emerged the winner after hitting the post in the 94th minute, but from there Ithaca would recover and set the tone as the Bombers took six shots, but were unable to find the back of the net.  In the second overtime period, Ithaca continued to apply the pressure with four more shots including one from Jess Demczar in the final seconds that hit the goal post, but time would run out as the game ended in a tie.

Stacey DiGiorgio played all 110 minutes in goal for Ithaca and made seven saves.

The game featured 54 shots in all, including 29 from Ithaca.  The Bombers put 10 shots on goal and took a season-high 10 corners.  Ravesi took a game-high 10 shots for Ithaca while Nash had five.  Demczar and Bedrosian had three shots each and Taylor Baranowsky was credited with two.

The Bombers will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday when they host Hartwick College in an Empire 8 match at Carp Wood Field.
