CLINTON, N.Y. —The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team traveled to No. 12 Hamilton College for a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon and the Bombers had their four-game winning streak snapped after a 15-7 loss on Steuben Field.
Junior
Morgan Cadwell equaled her season high with four goals and won three draw controls while junior
Morgan Racicot added one goal with one assist in the loss for Ithaca (9-4).
Seniors
Ally Lates and
Riley Marion added goals for the Bombers, who were outshot 34-18 against the Continentals (10-4).
Sophomore
Molly Long scooped up four groundballs and caused two turnovers, but IC couldn't rally from a 12-5 halftime deficit.
Hamilton scored first just 26 seconds in, but Cadwell knotted the score with an unassisted goal 1:07 later for Ithaca. The Continentals went on a 5-1 run over the next 11 minutes and led 6-2 14 minutes in. Racicot found Lates to trim the deficit to 4-2 for the lone IC goal during the run.
Cadwell's second goal of the half, an unassisted tally with 14:01 remaining, pulled the Bombers within 6-3, but the Continentals scored three straight goals to seize a 9-3 lead with 11:16 remaining in the opening half.
Cadwell and Marion found the back of the next just 15 seconds apart as Ithaca clawed within 9-5, but the Continentals took a 12-5 lead into halftime after scoring the final three goals of the half.
Racicot opened the second half scoring on an unassisted goal 4:59 into the half, but Ithaca couldn't get any closer than six goals the rest of regulation and took the loss to even its road record at 3-3.
Junior
Emily Ross started and made six saves in 45:22 minutes of action while sophomore
Kimberly Presuto made two saves in 14:38 minutes of action in the second half.
Ithaca travels to Alfred University for a 4 p.m. Empire 8 contest Saturday afternoon before closing out the regular season hosting Utica (1 p.m. Sunday) and No. 20 St. John Fisher College (1 p.m. April 30 on Senior Day).
