TAMPA, Fla. — The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team concluded its annual Spring Break trip with a 15-7 win over Babson College Thursday night at the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex in Tampa, Fla.
Sophomore
Jake Cotton scored three goals with three assists, and senior
Michael Walker added three goals to power the Bombers (5-1) past the Beavers (1-3). Cotton has scored three or more points in every game this year, and has reached six points three times.
Sophomore
Stephen Morrell and freshman
Josh Della Puca each added two goals with one assist, sophomore
Kaelan Fitzpatrick handed out two assists, and freshman
Connor Hulme scored a goal with an assist as Ithaca scored 15 or more goals for the fifth time in six games.
Junior
Grant Osadchey and sophomore midfielder
Steven Landspurg each won 69.2 percent of their faceoffs (9 of 13) for the Bombers, who won their first-ever meeting with Babson.
Osadchey collected seven groundballs, senior All-American defender
Eli Gobrecht scooped up a game-high eight groundballs while causing two turnovers, and sophomore
Winston Wenham added four groundballs in the win.
Senior
Scott Sidnam, who entered the game ranked third nationally in goals-against average (3.52) and 11th in save percentage (.698), made 11 saves and allowed seven goals in 60 minutes to improve to 5-1.
Babson, which entered the game ranked 21st in the country in scoring offense (14.67 goals per game), raced out to a 3-0 lead after 11 minutes and held a 5-2 lead on Connnor Flaherty's goal with 6:32 remaining in the second quarter.
Morrell scored back-to-back goals later in the quarter to pull IC within 5-4 heading to halftime. Those goals marked the beginning of a 9-1 run as Ithaca pulled away for its third straight win.
Sophomore
David Drozjock tied the game at five off a feed from Cotton 1:16 into the third quarter. Babson retook the lead, 6-5 on Axel Brown's man-up goal a minute later, but Della Puca and Cotton scored twice, while Hulme and Gobrecht added tallies to put the Bombers up 11-6 at the end of the third.
Babson pulled within 11-7 on Taylor Segreti's unassisted goal 2:47 into the fourth, but Walker scored twice and Cotton and freshman
Brendan King added fourth-quarter goals to seal the win.
Ithaca travels to Oneonta State for a 4 p.m. non-conference clash March 23 before opening up Empire 8 play with a 1 p.m. home game against Utica College March 26.Â
