GENEVA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team fell to Hobart on the road, 2-1, on Tuesday at Cozzens Field despite outshooting the Statesmen. With the loss, Ithaca slipped to 4-6 overall while Hobart improved to 4-4-3 on the season.
Hobart jumped out to a quick lead after scoring in the ninth minute on a crossing pass to take a 1-0 lead. The Statesmen would double their advantage in the 38th minute when a shot found its way through traffic and into the corner of the net for a 2-0 lead heading into the break.Â
Coming out of intermission, Ithaca looked to set the tempo with four quick shots over the half's first six minutes of play. Ithaca would get on the board in the 60th minute when
Sam Boylan took a penalty kick that found its way into the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Ithaca would put two shots on goal and had two corners over the final 30 minutes of play, but could not net the equalizer as the Statesmen earned the hard-fought decision.
Senior
Zach Jacobsen took the loss in goal for Ithaca and moved to 4-5 on the year. The Frederick, Md. native made one save in 90 minutes.
As a squad, the Bombers took 10 shots on the offensive end of the field while the defensive corps allowed just seven shots to Hobart. Boylan led all players with three shots while

Ithaca will return to conference play at 3 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Elmira to take on the Soaring Eagles.
