DALLAS, Pa. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team suffered just its third loss of the season as the Bombers stepped out of conference and fell to Misericordia University, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field. Ithaca, which had outscored its opponents 10-1 over the last two games, fell to 10-3-2 with the loss while the Cougars improved to 14-4-0 overall.
Ithaca started the game aggressively as the Bombers were able to take three shots including one on goal, but the Cougars would strike first after scoring in the 15th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Misericordia would strike again just over two minutes later in the 17th minute when a crossing pass found its mark to make it a 2-0 game.Â
Coming out of intermission, the Cougars would add another goal in the 54th minute while it limited the Bombers to just four shots on goal on the defensive end of the pitch.
Ithaca, which was credited with 14 shots as team was led by
Jess Demczar's four shots while
Megan Nash took three shots.Â
Jocelyn Ravesi, the reigning Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week, and
Emma Oliver took two shots apiece.
Stacey DiGiorgio started in goal and was saddled with the loss to move to 10-3-2 overall. The sophomore keeper made a season-high 11 saves.
Ithaca will conclude its 2016 regular season at 12 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Hoboken, N.J. to takes on nationally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in an Empire 8 showdown.
