PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team clinched a berth into the Empire 8 Championship as the Bombers nailed down their eighth shutout of the season on Saturday with a 2-0 win over St. John Fisher College at Growney Stadium. With the win, Ithaca moved to 10-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play while the Cardinals fell to 3-8-3 on the season and 2-4-2 in the Empire 8 standings.
Ithaca controlled the tempo from the first whistle as the Bombers took two shots and were awarded a pair of corner kicks in the game's first eight minutes. Ithaca continued to apply pressure to Fisher's backline and scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 10th minute of play when
Megan Nash found the back of the net to make it 1-0 in Ithaca's favor.Â

Lindsey Parkins each earned an assist on the play.
As the opening half wore on, Ithaca's relentless attack paid off in the 38th minute as freshman
Jordyn Haynes broke free and beat the Cardinals' keeper to stake the visiting Bombers to a 2-0 advantage.
In the second half, Fisher tried to find a rhythm, but the Bombers' defensive unit held the Cardinals to just three shots over the final 45 minutes of action en route to a 2-0 decision.
Stacey DiGiorgio got the start in net for Ithaca and earned her 10th win in the process after totaling one save.
Jess Demczar led all players with six shots while
Jocelyn Ravesi and Nash each had four shots in the win.Â

Ally Christman and Haynes each took one shot.
Overall, Ithaca outshot the Cardinals, 18-5 and took nine corners while allowing just one to their opponent.Â
The Bombers will continue their three game road trip at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they travel to Dallas, Pa. to face Misericordia.
