Field Hockey Cruises Past Hartwick, 4-0

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team improved to 5-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Empire 8 Conference with a 4-0 shutout win over Hartwick College on Wednesday afternoon at Higgins Stadium.

In the victory, Ithaca set season-highs in shots (28), corners (18) and shots on goal (16). The Bombers also matched season-bests in goals, assists and points.

Sophomore Michaela Donohue put in the game-winner for the Bombers nearly 15 minutes into the game off a pass from freshman Viktoria Schultz. Donohue also assisted on two goals later in the game to account for four points on the afternoon.

Just over 11 minutes later, Schultz and Donohue reversed roles to stake Ithaca to a 2-0 lead. The tally was Schultz's first collegiate goal, while the assist to Donohue was also the first of her career.

In the second half, the Bombers put in two goals in a span of 43 seconds to secure the conference win. Junior Cassie Schuttrumpf tallied her third goal of the year just 1:16 into the half, and then classmate Lauren Delia capped off the scoring off a feed from Donohue.

Junior Katie Lass made two saves in 70 minutes of action for her fifth win and third shutout of the season.

Hartwick only managed to take three shots in the game, all in the first half, and took one corner.

Ithaca travels to Nazareth College on Sept. 26 for another conference tilt at 1 p.m.
