Field Hockey Notches Another Shutout at Naz

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team improved to 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Empire 8 Conference with a 1-0 shutout win at Nazareth on Saturday afternoon. Over the past five contests, Ithaca has recorded four shutouts.

Junior Cassie Schuttrumpf put in the lone goal of the contest just 12:35 into the game off a feed from senior Olivia Salindong. It was Schuttrumpf's fourth goal and Salindong's first assist.

In the first half, the Bombers took 14 shots and put 12 on goal. The Ithaca defense held Nazareth to just three shots in the opening 35 minutes, with two on target.

Ithaca kept Nazareth to three shots once again in the second half, and junior Katie Lass made three saves in the period. Overall, Lass stopped five shots in her fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Bombers fired off 11 more shots in the second half, and were awarded 13 penalty corners in the game. Nazareth took four corners.

Through eight games this season, Ithaca has only surrendered four goals, and never more than two in a single contest.

Ithaca returns to action on Sept. 30 against William Smith at Higgins Stadium at 7 p.m.
