Keegan-Twombly's First Hat Trick Sparks Field Hockey

Ithaca, N.Y. — Junior Colleen Keegan-Twombly scored a career-high three goals to power the Ithaca College field hockey team to a 7-0 win over Wells College Wednesday night on the turf field at Higgins Stadium.

Twombly recorded her first career hat trick, scoring the Bombers (7-3) first goal just 78 seconds in and adding two goals in a span of 5:18 late in the second half.

Senior Caitlin O'Brien handed out two assists, and sophomore Michaela Donohue had a goal and an assist as Ithaca enjoyed an 18-3 edge in shots, and a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Sophomore Amanda Schell scored a goal, her first of the season, while freshmen MaryKate Siegel and Maria McGloin added their first collegiate goals in the win.

Following Keegan-Twombly's first goal, Donohue collected a miss and scored in the 10th minute for a 2-0 lead. O'Brien fed Schell for a score 3:11 later, and the Bombers took a 4-0 lead into halftime after McGloin's tally in the 20th minute.

Siegel collected a rebound and scored to the near post for a five-goal lead in the 56th minute before Keegan-Twombly closed out the scoring with two late goals to complete the hat trick.

Junior Katie Lass made one save to improve to 7-3.

Ithaca is home this weekend for Empire 8 clashes with Elmira (1 p.m. Saturday) and Stevens (1 p.m. Sunday).
