Ithaca, N.Y. — Junior
Colleen Keegan-Twombly scored a career-high three goals to power the Ithaca College field hockey team to a 7-0 win over Wells College Wednesday night on the turf field at Higgins Stadium.
Twombly recorded her first career hat trick, scoring the Bombers (7-3) first goal just 78 seconds in and adding two goals in a span of 5:18 late in the second half.
Senior
Caitlin O'Brien handed out two assists, and sophomore
Michaela Donohue had a goal and an assist as Ithaca enjoyed an 18-3 edge in shots, and a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Sophomore
Amanda Schell scored a goal, her first of the season, while freshmen
MaryKate Siegel and
Maria McGloin added their first collegiate goals in the win.
Following Keegan-Twombly's first goal, Donohue collected a miss and scored in the 10th minute for a 2-0 lead. O'Brien fed Schell for a score 3:11 later, and the Bombers took a 4-0 lead into halftime after McGloin's tally in the 20th minute.
Siegel collected a rebound and scored to the near post for a five-goal lead in the 56th minute before Keegan-Twombly closed out the scoring with two late goals to complete the hat trick.
Junior
Katie Lass made one save to improve to 7-3.
Ithaca is home this weekend for Empire 8 clashes with Elmira (1 p.m. Saturday) and Stevens (1 p.m. Sunday).
