ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team improved its record to 8-3 and 4-1 in the Empire 8 Conference with a 4-0 shutout of Elmira College on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. Ithaca scored three goals in the first half and tacked on another midway through the second half.
The Bombers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on a goal by junior
Colleen Keegan-Twombly that was assisted by senior Cailtin O'Brien. On the goal, Keegan-Twombly settled the ball within five yards of the goal, spun to her right and fired a shot past Elmira's goalkeeper.
With 10 minutes left in the first half, freshman
Viktoria Schultz re-directed a shot by senior
Olivia Salindong into the back of the net to give Ithaca a 2-0 advantage.
Ithaca's lead increased to 3-0 in the first half with just 2:36 left on the clock. A shot by sophomore

Michaela Donohue was there to clean up the rebound for her fifth goal on the year.

Cassie Schuttrumpf put in Ithaca's fourth goal of the contest off the second assist of the day from Salindong from the top right portion of the zone with 17:14 left in the game.

Katie Lass was forced to make just two saves in the victory for her eighth win and fifth shutout of the season.
The Bombers outshot Elmira, 20-6, and took seven corners to just two for the Soaring Eagles.
Ithaca is back in action tomorrow afternoon for another Empire 8 game against Stevens at 1 p.m. Stevens brings an 8-5 record with a 3-2 conference mark into tomorrow's contest.
