Bomber Men's Soccer Team In Scoreless Draw at RPI

Box Score Troy, N.Y. -- Ninety minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime didn't result in a goal as the Ithaca men's soccer team (1-1-1) and Rensselaer (2-0-1) played to a 0-0 tie Wednesday at the East Campus Athletic Village Stadium. It was the first shutout of the season by the Bombers.

Ithaca had a solid scoring opportunity in the 25th minute when sophomore forward Tim Goldman took a free kick from 20 yards out that found its way through the RPI wall and toward the right side of the net, but the Rensselaer goalkeeper tracked the shot and punched the ball out of danger.

Bomber sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Gentile made his third consecutive start and earned his first shutout of the year and third of his career. He made two saves in the match.

Ithaca plays its first home game of the 2012 season Saturday at 1 p.m. when Muhlenberg visits Carp Wood Field.
