Ithaca Softball Posts Huge Sweep of St. John Fisher

Pittsford, N.Y. -- The Ithaca softball team scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 4-3 win over St. John Fisher in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at St. John Fisher. Ithaca used a three-run first inning rally and never trailed in a 7-4 win in the second game of the twinbill. The Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when junior third baseman Molly O'Donnell doubled to bring in sophomore Rachel Dell'Orto. St. John Fisher answered with a three-run fifth inning and carried that lead into the top of the last inning. Ithaca scored all three runs in that inning with two outs and held on for the 4-3 win. The seventh-inning rally started when Adrienne Walters reached on a fielding error and Francesca Busa was hit by a pitch. O'Donnell singled to bring in Walters, and then sophomore Sydney Folk doubled into left field to bring in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Jillian Olmstead worked around two Fisher baserunners in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win. She entered the game with two outs in the fifth inning and didn't allow a run in two and a third innings pitched. She allowed two hits with one walk and one strikeout. Sam Bender was Ithaca's starting pitcher and seven hits and three runs, all of which were unearned.
