ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca wrestling team maintained its position as the eighth-ranked team in the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, released Dec. 5. The Bombers (1-0) won their first dual-match of the season Wednesday with a 43-3 win over the Rochester Institute of Technology. The Bombers return to action Saturday at Oswego for a 4:30 p.m. dual match. Fans can follow that match with a live video webcast as well as live scoring of each bout.

Four Ithaca wrestlers held on to rankings within their weight classes by the NWCA. Ricky Gomez held on the fifth spot in the 125-pound rankings. Gomez is 11-2 overall this season with three wins by pin. Alex Gomez stands 10th in the rankings at 133 pounds with a 6-3 overall record. Derek Brenon remained third at 157 pounds. Brenon is a perfect 9-0 on the year with four wins by pin and tournament titles at Ithaca and at York, Pa. Jules Doliscar stands second in the 174-pound weight class. He has a 13-1 overall record, and his 13 wins leads the team.  He won tournament titles at Ithaca and York, Pa. and placed third in the New York State Collegiate Wrestling Championships.
