ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca men's soccer team begins its quest for an Empire 8 championship in the semifinals of the conference tournament Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John Fisher. The Bombers enter the game with a 7-5-4 record and finished in third place in the Empire 8 with a 3-2-1 conference mark. The Cardinals finished second in the Empire 8 with a 10-5-2 overall record and a 4-1-1 conference record.

During the regular season, Ithaca tied St. John Fisher 1-1 at Fisher's Growney Stadium on Sept. 15. Ithaca took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal from
Tim Goldman. Fisher equalized in the opening minute of the second half and the game concluded without another score.
Ithaca holds a 15-3-5 advantage in the all-time series against St. John Fisher. This includes a 1-0 win in the Empire 8 semifinals in 2008, which was the last postseason meeting between the schools.
Tim Goldman leads Ithaca with four goals and nine points on the season.

Zach Hutchinson have scored two goals each. Freshman goalkeeper
Kenny Chapman is 5-3-1. He has made eight starts and has a 0.78 goals-against average.
The other semifinal matches first-place Stevens Institute of Technology against Elmira in a game that will be played at 1 p.m. Friday at Utica. The championship game will take place Sunday at the highest remaining seed. Although Stevens is the tournament's highest seed, they will be playing their games in Utica this weekend due to the effects in New Jersey from the recent superstorm Sandy.
