Box Score ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca men's soccer team (5-2-4, 3-0-1 Empire 8) remained near the top of the Empire 8 standings with a 1-0 win at Elmira (9-2-0, 2-2-0 Empire 8). It is Ithaca's third shutout victory of the year, and the Bombers have two additional shutouts that ended in ties.
Freshman goalkeeper
Kenny Chapman earned the start in goal and made five saves. He is 3-0-1 on the year with two shutouts.
The game's only goal came in the 32nd minute when Ithaca took advantage of a risky play by the Elmira goalkeeper. Ithaca midfielder
Blair Carney possessed the ball near the right corner flag and was pursued by the goalkeeper a distance from goal.
Carney passed to
Brandon Glass in front of the net and
Glass converted into the unoccupied goal. It was the first goal of the season for
Glass and the second assist fo the year for
Carney.
Ithaca held a 19-16 advantage in shots and both teams had six corner kicks.
The Bombers are one of three unbeaten teams in conference play, and will face a non-league game Tuesday at Hamilton.
