ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (20-7) lost 57-48 to Stevens (21-7) in the Empire 8 Championship Tournament final Sunday. The Bombers, who trailed by 16 in the first half, closed to a point late in the second period before the Ducks pulled away.
Senior forward
Jane DeBiasse (Chatham/Chatham, N.J.) led Ithaca with 12 points on four three-point baskets. Her long-range shooting sparked a 14-8 Bomber run that closed the first half after the Ducks opened their biggest lead (21-5) with 7:45 left. Ithaca scored the first two baskets of the second half to close to within six points before the Ducks upped their lead back to 10.
Ithaca's last rally came thanks to a 15-6 run that cut the Stevens lead to 42-41 with 6:39 to go in regulation. The Ducks scored the next seven points and held a lead of at least six the rest of the way.
DeBiasse added four rebounds and two steals. Sophomore center
Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) finished with nine points, nine rebounds, five steals and a pair of blocked shots.
Senior forward
Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) added six assists, six rebounds and three blocks. Freshman forward Jennifer Escobido
(Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) collected seven points and five rebounds.
