#4 Bombers Knock Off #20 Cortland To Close Wrestling Dual-Match Season

Cortland, N.Y. -- The fourth-ranked wrestling team (14-2) closed out its dual-match season with a 21-13 win at #20 Cortland (14-5-1) Wednesday.

The Bombers won despite resting two of their six nationally ranked wrestlers. One of the four nationally ranked Ithaca athletes that did not compete, second-ranked Jeremy Stierly (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, Pa.), posted a win over the nation's fourth-ranked wrestler in the evening's marquee match-up. Stierly wrapped up the season unbeaten in dual matches (11-0) with a 5-2 win at 141 pounds. Stierly, the 2010 NCAA runner-up, is now 16-1 on the season and 73-16 in his career.

Senior Blaine Woszczak (Wall/Manasquan, N.J.) extended  his school record by notching his 131st career victory. Woszczak, who's ranked second nationally at 149, picked up his second technical fall in a row by winning 18-2. Woszczak is now 29-2 on the season and undefeated (14-0) in dual matches. The technical fall was his fourth of the year and the 18th of his career.

Junior Seth Ecker (Pottstown/Pottstown, Pa.), ranked third nationally at 133, improved to 25-3 on the season (with a 14-2 mark in dual matches) by recording a dominat major decision, blanking his opponent 12-0.  Ecker is now 70-15 overall as a Bomber. The major decision  was his fourth of the year and the 10th of his career.

Senior Nick Sanko (Hamburg Area/Lenhartsville, Pa.) won 7-2 at 165. Sanko raised his season record to 14-5 and his career mark to 33-17.

Sophomore Dave Foley (Fairport/Fairport) and junior Keith Dickey (Cedar Cliff) picked up Ithaca's other two wins. Foley won by decision at 174, recording a 7-4 victory. Foley is now 11-9 in his first season as a Bomber. Dickey won 3-1 in sudden death overtime at 184. He raised his season record to 9-8. He's 7-4 in dual matches.

The Bombers are idle until hosting the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships Saturday, Feb. 26.
