ITHACA, N.Y. – The fifth-ranked Rochester Yellowjackets (8-0) rallied for a 68-59 win over the #29 Ithaca Bombers (6-1) Tuesday in a match-up of nationally ranked undefeated opponents. The Bombers, who had matched the program's third-best start ever by winning their first six games, had led by as many as 13 points early in the second half.
Rochester used a 12-2 run over a four-minute span to pull within a point, then took the lead for good with 7:01 to play; the Yellowjackets had trailed since the 4:30 mark of the first half before that point.
Senior guard
Jacqueline Shinall (Joel Barlow/Redding, Conn.) led Ithaca with a career-best 16 points. The Bombers, who made seven of their first 10 shots from the floor in the second half, tied the score at 57-all on a three-point basket by sophomore guard
Kathryn Campbell (Wall/Wall, N.J.) with 4:09 to go before Rochester closed out the game scoring 11 of the last 13 points.
Campbell recorded her second career double-double, scoring 14 points and matching a career-best with her game-high 10 rebounds.
Sophomore forward
Jenn Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) added 11 points, making five-of-six shots from the field, and junior center
Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) added eight points, three assists and two blocked shots.
The Bombers host Baruch Saturday at 1 p.m. to close out their four-game home stand.
