Shankland's initial shot was blocked and then he scored on the rebound past the Ducks' goalkeeper.
It was just the second goal that Stevens allowed at home in eight home matches, as the Ducks entered Friday's semifinal with six shutouts in its last seven games at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
The eventual game-winning goal was scored by the Ducks in the 55th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper
Jordan Gentile (Manlius-Pebble Hill/Syracuse) made six saves in the match, as Ithaca was outshot 16-8 in the game. The Bombers held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Ithaca pressured in the final 10 minutes and had a chance at a bouncing ball that went over the goalkeeper's head, but a Stevens defender turned it out of play near the post to yield a corner kick to the Bombers. Ithaca made its seventh appearance in the conference tournament and has a 3-3-3 overall record in nine all-time Empire 8 playoff games.
Stevens advances to the conference championship game Sunday afternoon, and the Ducks will face Elmira.
