Ithaca Stretches #17 Hobart, Falls in OT

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's soccer team (2-5-1) held No. 17 Hobart scoreless though 90 minutes before yielding a goal 1:40 into overtime in a 1-0 Statesmen (10-1-0) victory over the Bombers. The game was played at night at Higgins Stadium, a fieldturf surface, and was the first varsity soccer game contested at Ithaca's recently-constructed venue.

The Bombers' best scoring chance came in the game's opening minutes as sophomore midfielder Nick Murad (New Milford/New Milford, Conn.) beat Hobart defenders and was in alone on the keeper. His shot was punched away by the sliding goalkeeper, and bounded toward the net, but the goalie regrouped and chased down the ball before it totally crossed the goal line. Murad led the Bombers with three shots in the game.

Moments later, Ithaca freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile (Manlius-Pebble Hill/Syracuse) came off his line and made a sliding save on a great chance by Hobart. Gentile finished the game with five saves.

Ithaca returns to action Saturday against Utica. Please note a schedule change for this match, which will now begin at 1 p.m. at Higgins Stadium.
