Offense Explodes In Field Hockey Victory

Box Score Morrisville, N.Y. - The Ithaca field hockey team (4-9) won its second straight game and matched its highest goal-output of the season in a 4-0 win at Morrisville (1-13) Tuesday afternoon. Four different players scored for Ithaca, and the Bombers had a season-high 29 shots in the game.

Ithaca wasted little time in taking the lead, as sophomore midfielder Katie Kennedy (Cicero-North Syracuse/Clay) scored just 22 seconds into the game on an assist from sophomore forward Lindsay Flanagan (Cicero-North Syracuse/Cicero). Flanagan centered a pass from the right side for Kennedy's conversion.

The lead doubled in the eighth minute as senior defender and captain Julie Anne Butare (Bridgewater-Raritan/Martinsville, N.J.) scored her first-career goal on another assist from Flanagan.

Ithaca's third goal came in the 25th minute on a redirection near the cage. Sophomore midfielder Emily Lash (Oley Valley/Oley, Pa.) was stationed at the left post and tipped in a pass from junior forward Julia Conroy (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.).

Lash also had a defensive save in the game, that helped preserve the shutout for Ithaca, the first of the season for junior goalkeeper Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester). Singleton had 11 saves.

Flanagan capped the scoring in the final two minutes of the second half on an assist from freshman forward Amber Foose (Boyertown Area/Boyertown, Pa.). That was the first point of Foose's collegiate career, and Flanagan had a career-high four points for the Bombers.

Ithaca returns to action Saturday night at Utica, in a 6 p.m. start. Please note that change in the start time for Saturday's game, which was originally scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
