Bombers Trounce Rochester in Regular Season Finale

Kylie McClure is one of four Bombers to score 30 or more goals on the season

Rochester, N.Y.--Junior Catherine Hurley (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) scored five goals as part of a 18-5 women's lacrosse win over Rochester (2-12) Tuesday. The Bombers (10-5) wrapped up the regular season with their most wins since 2005. The team is idle until May 8, when they host the Empire 8 Championship tournament as the top seed.

Ithaca notched the first five goals of the game, with Hurley scoring three. After a pair of Yellowjacket scores pulled the deficit to three, the Bombers rattled off five more goals over the final seven minutes of play in the first half. Ithaca scored another five unanswered goals to open the second period to stretch the lead to 15-2 and put the game well out of reach.

Hurley added three assists to her five goals to match her career-high with eight points. She also moved into a tie for 10th in Ithaca history with her 114th career goal.

Four other Bombers posted multi-goal performances. Freshman Tracy Rivas (Eat Meadow/East Meadow) scored four, sophomore Nicole Borisenok (Albany Academy for Girls/Watervliet) three and junior Ali DeCirce (Binghamton/Binghamton) and freshman Kim Armbruster (Montville/Boonton, N.J.) two each.

Rivas tallied her 30th goal of the season in the win, joining Hurley (37 goals), Borisenok (33) and senior Kylie McClure (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) as players with 30 or more goals on the season.

Senior Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) moved to 9-3 on the season by picking up the win in goal. She allowed just three goals in nearly 50 minutes of play while making 10 saves. With 16 career wins, Dowell ranks fifth in program history. She stands 12th with 210 career saves.

The Bombers, who will host the Empire 8 playoffs, open postseason play May 8 against fourth-seeded Nazareth at noon.
