Buffalo, N.Y.--Buffalo State (3-0) outscored Ithaca 4-1 in the second half to break a halftime tie and go on to a 9-6 victory. For the Bombers (1-2), sophomore Nicole Borisenok (Albany Academy for Girls/Watervliet) scored three goals, her third straight game with at least that many.
Borisenok's first goal came halfway into the opening period, tying the score at two goals apiece. After a Bengal goal, the Bombers again tied the score, this time off a shot from junior Katie Hurley (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls).
Buffalo State scored twice more in the first half, with Borisenok responding both times with a game-tying goal. Her final goal came off a free position attempt with just over one minute left before halftime.
The Bengals scored the first four goals of the second half to take a 9-5 lead. Freshman Samantha Whitney (Portsmouth/Rye, N.H.) scored late in the game for the Bombers, her first career goal.
Senior Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) played the entire game in goal for Ithaca. She recorded seven saves.
Sophomore Siobhan Sullivan (Franklin/Franklin, Mass.) won a game-high three draw controls for the Bombers. Coming off the bench, senior Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.) grabbed a team-leading three ground balls and also caused a turnover.
The Bombers return to action Sunday at eighth-ranked Cortland.
