ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (1-0) won its season opener Tuesday, routing William Smith (0-1). Four Bombers scored in double figures, including sophomore center
Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) ,who recorded her first career double-double.
Shea scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, collecting career-bests in both categories. She added a pair of steals as the Bombers won their third straight against William Smith.
Senior forward
Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) led the Bombers with 14 points. She pulled down five rebounds and matched a career-high with seven assists. As a team, the Bombers dished out 23 assists. Senior forward
Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) and freshman
Kathryn Campbell (Wall/Spring Lake, N.J.) added respective totals of 12 and 10 points off the bench.

Elisabeth Wentlent (Greene/Greene) led Ithaca with eight assists and pulled down six rebounds.

(Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) -- who scored seven points -- combined for 22 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals in 65 minutes.
Junior guard
Riley Dunn (Central Catholic/Bradford, Mass.) added seven points and seven rebounds.
Ithaca used a 13-3 run early in the first half to pull away from a two-point lead.
Confessore scored five of the points and
Escobido added four as the Bombers extended their lead from 11-9 (5:20 into the game) to 26-12 (3:54 later). The Herons closed to within double digits only once over the final 30 minutes and trailed by as many as 21 midway through the second period.
The Bombers play at #5 Rochester Friday in the opening round of the Yellowjackets' Chuck Resler Invitational.
