Women's Baketball Rallies to Stay Perfect in E8

Rochester, N.Y.--The Bombers, down by 10 in the second half, rode a 26-3 run to an 82-57 win over Rochester Institute of Technology (8-10, 2-7 Empire 8) Sunday afternoon. The win keeps Ithaca (15-4, 10-0 Empire 8 ) perfect in conference play. Seniors Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) and Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) each scored 20 points in the victory.

Up by four at halftime, the Tigers scored 11 of the second half's first 15 points to bring the score to 44-33 with just over 14 minutes to play. RIT still led by 10 at 48-38 with under 13 minutes to play. Freshman Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntington Valley, Pa.) made a layup to score the first of 13 straight Ithaca points, giving the Bombers the lead for the remainder of the game. Bixby scored nine of Ithaca's points in the run.

After an RIT free throw cut the Ithaca lead to 51-49, the Bombers scored 11 unanswered points, with Brown picking up five points in that run. The Tigers finally scored a field goal with 5:46 to play, their first in over seven minutes of play. Ithaca held RIT to just nine points in the final 10 minutes of play.

Ithaca took the early lead in the game, and was up by 10 at 20-10 halfway through the opening half. The Tigers chipped away at the Bomber advantage, finally taking the lead at 27-24. The two teams were tied at 29-29 before a par of RIT field goals in the final 1:10 of the half.

Brown and Bixby tied for the game lead in points. Brown and junior Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Klie also recorded six steals, giving her 15 in Ithaca's two wins over RIT.

The Bombers return to action Friday at Alfred.
